History of The SES Companies
The S.E.S. Companies began as R.S. Fields & Associates in 1987. Robert Fields organized the firm to assist clients with soils related work for onsite septic systems. In 1988, Michael Lynn joined the firm to assist with the rapidly growing client base. In 1989, regulations dealing with environmental liabilities, wetlands and the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act became priorities for our clients. With an emphasis on providing services to meet the challenges these new regulations required, the firm's name and focus was changed to Soils & Environmental Services, Inc. In 1995, SES expanded by acquiring Soil Consultants of Virginia and opening an office in Mineral, Virginia. In 1998, SES formed Onsite Solutions to assist people with properties that cannot support conventional sewage disposal systems and those in need of repairing failing systems.
Through the years , the firm has gained an excellent reputation for service and results. We are committed to serving people and assisting them with the improvement and enjoyment of our world.

Soil Consulting Services - The "Perc" Test
The site and soil evaluation process is the most important first step in developing a property to be served by an Onsite Sewage Disposal System. A thorough understanding of the proposed development, landscapes, soil conditions and restrictive features are imperative to ensure the wastewater and water supply system will provide safe long term service. Let our experienced team of Certified Professional Soil Scientists (CPSS) and Virginia Authorized Onsite Evaluators (AOSE) help make your next project the most successful one yet.
Leaking Underground Storage Tanks
One of the most common types of environmental liability is a leaking underground storage tank (UST). UST's are not only found at gas stations, but commonly occur on farms, commercial/industrial property and private residences. Even a leaking home heating oil tank can result in a $5,000 to $10,000 clean-up.
Environmental Assessment Reports
Increased public awareness and potential environmental liability have greatly impacted the real estate transaction process. Property ranging from manufacturing plants to raw land and single family residences have potential environmental risks. Professional evaluation of sites prior to purchase or refinance is imperative and often required by lenders. Let our experience in performing Environmental Site Assessments help you make fully informed financial decisions. Determine the true value of a property and defend against potential catastrophic environmental and third party liability mandated by a USEPA cleanup.
Wetlands and Chesapeake Bay Preservation
The regulation of activities impacting Wetlands is ever changing. Determining the level of impact is an important first step in the development project. Let our experiences guide you through the complex maze of delineation, agency coordination and permitting. Together, we can create an environmentally sound, yet practical solution.
