The SES Companies Message Forums

The SES Companies have provided a forum to address any questions, comments or concerns that you may have, regarding any of our services or policies, or local regulations and requirements. If you have a question, comment or concern that you would like us to address, please register for our message forums and post your comments there.
Message forums are much more convenient and reliable than email communication. Message forums do not carry viruses, trojans, or worms. In addition, message forums always provide an accurate transcript of the entire conversation, in case you need to refer back to something that was previously said. Also, in the case that you have a question, comment or concern that has already been posed by another member, and has already been addressed by our staff, then you will have an immediate answer, instead of waiting for a response.

Below, we have provided some instructions explaining how to register for the forums and how to post and view topics within the forums. We have also included a brief glossary of terms used within message forums.

How To Register
If you click on this address: http://www.sesonsite.com/perl/yabb/YaBB.cgi, our message forums will open in a new window. Once the message forums load, you will want to click on the link at the top of the page that says "Register". When the new page loads, please enter a username that you would like to use. In many cases, people will use the first part of their email addresses as their usernames. Then, please enter your email address in the next box. If you would like to keep your email address hidden from the public, so that other forum members cannot send you unsolicited email, then please leave the "Hide email from public?" box checked. Please, then, read thoroughly the user agreement. All members of these forums will be responsible for following those terms of use. When you have finished reading the terms, if you agree with them, please check the "I Agree" box, and click the button that says "Register".

Once you click the button that says "Register", a new page will load that asks for your username and password. Before you type anything, please check your email (the email account that you used to register). You should receive an email message from "admin@sesonsite.com". Inside that message, you will find your temporary password. Now, you may return to the page that asks for your username and password. Please type your username into the appropriate box, and enter (or copy and paste) the password that was provided in the email message. If you have completed all of these steps, then you are now registered for the SES Companies Message Forums.

How To Change Your Password, and Update Your Profile
Begin by logging in to the Onsite Solutions Message Forums. If you have not yet registered, please see our information on how to register. Then, click on the "Profile" link at the top of the message forums.

Once you are on the "Edit Profile" page of our message forums, you will see the following options:

      Required Information
The information below will already be filled in with the information you provided when you registered. You can change this information if you wish. Please make certain that all of these fields are filled in.
    • Username: - This option cannot be changed. This is the username that you gave when you first registered.
    • Choose Password: - This option can be changed to anything you want. You should only use numbers and lowercase letters. Do not use any special symbols (such as !@#$%^&*, etc.).
    • Verify Password: - The information you type into this box needs to be exactly the same as the box above.
    • Name: - This is the name that will appear whenever you post. You can put your real name here, or you can type in a screen name that you want to appear in your posts.
    • Email: - This is where you should enter the email address that you would like associated with your account. Any time you ask to be notified of replies, this is the email address to which your notification will be sent. Any time we need to send out an important announcement, it will be sent to that email address.

      Additional Information
All of this information is optional. If you would like to add any of this information, please fill it out.

    • Gender: - You may select your gender from the drop-down box.
    • Birthdate: - You may select your birthdate from the drop-down boxes.
    • Location: - You may fill in where in the world you are located.
    • Website Title: - If you have your own web site, or your company has its own web site, you may enter a title for that web site here.
    • Website URL: - You may enter the address of your web site, or your company's web site in this field.
    • ICQ: - If you use ICQ, you may enter your ICQ number here.
    • AIM: - If you use AOL Instant Messenger, you may enter your AIM screen name here.
    • YIM: - If you use Yahoo! Instant Messenger, you may enter your YIM screen name here.
    • Personal Text: - If you would like a short message describing yourself to appear underneath your screen name, please enter that here.
    • Personalized Picture: - If you would like a personalized image (avatar) to appear below your screen name, you may select that image here. There are quite a few images available on our server, or you may upload your own image to your own web space, and use that image as your avatar. If you are going to use your own image, please check the appropriate box.

      Preferences
This is where you can adjust your personal preferences.

    • Hide Email From Public: - If you would like your email address to be available to anyone that visits these forums, please leave this box unchecked. However, if you don't want your email address to be available, please place a checkmark in this box.
    • Time Format: - Anywhere the date and time appear on our forums, they will appear in the format that you choose from this drop-down box.
    • Time Offset: - If you live in a region other than the Eastern Time Zone of the United States, then you will probably want to enter a number in this box. For instance, if you live in California, you will want to enter "-3" in this box (without the quotes). If you are unsure of what number to enter, please remember that the Eastern Time Zone of the US is GMT -5 (meaning that we are 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time). So, if you check your time settings on your computer, you should be able to see what relation your time zone has to GMT, and add five to that number. In other words, if you live in a time zone that is GMT +8, then you would want to enter +13 in this box. Please remember your basic math skills regarding positive and negative numbers).
    • Signature: - If you would like a personalized signature to appear at the bottom of all of your posts, please enter that in this box. You can use YaBBC Code in this box (that is how you would include an image, a link, or text effects). If you do not know how to use YaBBC Code, please view the help files on our forums.

    Glossary of Common Terms
Avatar - A small image that appears underneath your username in every post you make. This image will also appear in your profile. These images are used to give a little personality to your posts, and also to let people know who is making the post. When you begin reading a topic with a lot of posts, you will tend to glance over the usernames without really paying attention. However, if you have a unique avatar, it will set you apart from everyone else, so that people can tell right away when you have made a post. In the SES Companies forum, our avatars are set to be exactly 65 pixels wide by 65 pixels high. If you use an image that is not 65x65, it will be stretched and resized automatically to fit those dimensions. Sig - Sig is short for "signature". This is very similar to the "signature" that many people add to their email messages. Your sig will appear at the bottom of every post you make. Sigs can contain images, text, or a combination of both. In the SES Companies forums, we have limited the size of sig images to 500 pixels wide by 112 pixels high. Also, sig images should not be more than 30 kilobytes. Locked - If a topic of message board is "locked", that means that you are free to read the posts within, but you are not able to respond to anything within that topic. Sticky - If a topic is "stickied", it will always appear at the top of the message board. Stickied topics usually consist of important announcements, FAQ's, etc. Usually, if a topic is stickied, then it is recommended that all members read what is inside. Forum - The term "forum" is used to describe the entire collection of message boards. Category - The term "category" is used to describe a collection of similar message boards. For instance, in the SES Companies forum, the first category you will see is the "Soil Work" category. Board - The term "board" is used to describe a single set of messages. For instance, the first message board you will see in the SES Companies forum is "News". Topic - The term "topic" is used to describe a single subject within a message board. Post - The term "post" is used to describe a single question, comment, concern or response to a question, comment or concern.
